Mini Mo Run 3rd November 2024

Today, I took part in a Mini Mo Run event in Richmond. The race was supposed to be 1.5 kilometres, but it ended up being just a little shorter at 1.4 kilometres. My pace was 4 minutes and 9 seconds per kilometre, which I was pleased with. I finished with a time of 5 minutes and 50 seconds, which made me proud, especially because I had already run a 2-kilometre Parkrun just two hours before. I was feeling a bit low on energy after that, so I had to push myself a bit harder in this race.

One of the best parts of the day was that I came first among all the girls, so I got a special, large medal. The medal was shaped like a moustache with little figures of people around it, and it had “champion” written on it because I finished in first place. It felt great to earn that medal, especially because I had worked hard to finish strong despite feeling tired.

The race itself was a bit tricky. There were no marshals around to show us where to go, so I often didn’t know if I was on the right path. There was a pace setter on a bike, but he was going very slowly and kept looking behind to check on us. This made it hard to keep a steady pace, and I had to be extra careful to stay on course.

While I was running, I also had to dodge a big brown dog that was right in my path. I had to go around it, which slowed me down a bit. On top of that, I noticed someone else in the race taking a shortcut because the circuit wasn’t laid out properly. It was frustrating to see that, but I focused on doing my best and running my own race fairly.

All in all, I feel good about how I ran, especially considering I had already done a Parkrun earlier in the day. Getting first place among the girls and receiving that special moustache-shaped medal made it all worth it. I’m happy with my performance and can’t wait to see what I can achieve next time!
