North West London League Fryent Park 2024

Today, I competed in the North West London League at Fryent Park. I gave it my all and managed to finish in 15th place out of 51 girls, which I’m proud of, especially since I was one of the youngest participants. Most of the girls racing were in Year 5 or Year 6, while I’m still in Year 4. This made me feel even more accomplished, knowing I was keeping up with older, more experienced runners.

The race was supposed to be 2 kilometers, but my watch recorded a distance of 1.74 kilometers. The course was entirely on grass, which made it more challenging, as I had to stay steady on the uneven terrain. I completed the race in 7 minutes and 18 seconds, with a pace of 4:12 per kilometer. I felt strong, and I knew I was pushing myself to do my best.

One of the highlights for me was finishing first among the girls from my club, Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers. There were five of us from the club competing, and coming out on top was a great feeling. I think I did pretty well overall, although I know there’s still room for improvement. This experience has shown me where I can work harder and get faster for next time.

The race wasn’t without its challenges, though. During the run, I got spiked by another runner, and it hurt quite a bit. Despite the pain, I kept going and didn’t let it slow me down. I knew I had to stay focused to finish strong, and I’m glad I pushed through.

Looking back, I’m happy with my performance, especially since I know all the girls who finished ahead of me were in Year 5 or Year 6. It makes me hopeful for next year, when I’ll be in Year 5 and have more experience under my belt. With hard work and dedication, I’m aiming to improve my time and possibly even win for the girls next year.

For now, I’m proud of what I achieved today and excited for the future. This race was a great learning experience, and I can’t wait to come back stronger and faster next season.
