North West London League Trent Park 2024

Today, I ran in a race called the North West London League at Trent Park. I knew it would be a tough race because it was raining heavily, and the ground was very muddy. The rain made everything slippery and tricky to run on, but I told myself to stay focused and try my best. Even though I enjoy running, I could tell this race would be a real challenge.

At the start, I didn’t have the best start, but it wasn’t too bad either. I kept my pace steady and worked hard to stay near the front. In the end, I finished in 10th place for the Under 11 Girls category, which I was proud of. The race was supposed to be 2 kilometres, but it ended up being 2.23 kilometres, which made it feel even harder. The extra distance was tough, but I kept going, pushing myself as much as I could.

My final time was 9 minutes and 54 seconds, with a pace of 4:27 per kilometre. I was happy with that time because the race included some uphill sections that made it extra difficult. During the race, I spotted a girl who also runs at my junior parkrun. She was ahead of me, so I decided to try and catch up to her. I pushed myself and managed to finish just 7 seconds behind her. It felt good to challenge myself, even though I didn’t quite catch her.

The race wasn’t without its problems, though. While running, I got spiked twice by someone else’s shoes. It hurt, and I noticed my leg was bleeding, but I didn’t let it stop me. I focused on the race and didn’t give up, even when the hills, mud, and rain made things feel really hard. I just kept reminding myself to keep going.

For my running club, I was the first girl to finish, which made me feel really proud. It was great to know that I had done well for my team. Even though I think I could have been a few seconds faster, I’m happy with my performance. This race has shown me that I can handle tough conditions, and it’s motivated me to train even harder.

Overall, I think the race taught me a lot about determination and resilience. Running in the mud and rain, with uphill sections and even an injury, wasn’t easy. But I stayed strong and finished well. I’m excited to keep improving and to see what I can achieve in my next race.
