Today, I took part in a race called the Under 11s District League at Mandeville Primary School in St Albans. I was excited and ready to give it my best. As I stood at the start line, I felt a rush of energy, waiting for the horn to blow. When it finally sounded, everyone sprinted forward. But just as I started running, a girl accidentally tripped me, and I fell straight into the mud. It all happened so fast, and before I knew it, I was on the ground while the rest of the runners sped ahead.
I quickly got up, but by then, I was right at the back of the race. I could see the leaders far ahead, and I knew I had a big challenge ahead of me. The girl in first place was at least 20 seconds ahead, but I wasn’t going to give up. I ran as fast as I could, weaving through the other runners and pushing myself to catch up. It was tough, but I kept going, focusing on closing the gap with every step.
Today, I took part in a 5-kilometre run at Rickmansworth Parkrun. Since I had never run this course before, I wasn’t sure about the route, so I had to follow the person ahead of me. Luckily, they were running at a good pace and weren’t too slow, which helped me keep a steady rhythm throughout the race. It felt exciting to run in a new location, but also a bit challenging because I didn’t know what to expect.
My pace for the run was 4:14 per kilometre, and my watch recorded a total distance of 5.05 kilometres. The course had a nice atmosphere, with lots of runners taking part. Everyone was pushing themselves, and the energy around me made me want to run even faster. It’s always great to see so many people running together, whether they are trying to set a personal best or just enjoying the experience.
Today, I ran a 2-kilometre race at Northala Fields Junior Parkrun. It was a new challenge for me because I had never run the full 2-kilometre distance before. I was feeling a bit nervous before the start, but I was also excited to give it a try. As I began running, I could feel myself getting a little tired, but I kept pushing forward and tried to keep my focus. I knew it wasnât going to be easy, but I was determined to do my best.
During the run, my pace was 4:06 per kilometre, and the distance was exactly 2 kilometres. Usually, the junior runs I do are slightly shorter at around 1.93 kilometres, so this was a bit longer than what Iâm used to. I noticed there were a few children ahead of me blocking the path at times, which made it harder to keep a steady pace. But I didnât let it stop me. I kept weaving through when I could and tried to stay focused on reaching the finish line.
Today, I ran 5 kilometres at the Northala Fields Parkrun. It was a challenging run because I felt a bit tired as I made my way around the track. I had a feeling it would be difficult even before I started because I could see lots of puddles along the course. The weather had been wet recently, and the water on the path made it tricky to keep my balance and pace steady. Still, I was determined to give it my best effort and see if I could improve my time.
When I started running, I tried to stay focused and keep a good rhythm. The course was busy, with plenty of other runners, and that made it exciting but also competitive. At one point during the run, a man running nearby started cheering me on and encouraging me to keep going. His words gave me a little boost when I was starting to feel tired. It was nice to have someone supporting me, even though I didn’t know him. Moments like that make Parkruns special because everyone encourages each other.
